Valentine's Day 2012

Here is a very bright red monkey just in time to celebrate the holiday. Here again, the combination of virtual chalk and watercolor.

I've been watching how most of the desirable art right now exists in two worlds. At least two. It's like we, as a culture, are exploring the difference between the illusion of digital and the comfort of bespoke. I'm thinking of my artist friends that use texture, or collage, who cut paper, stand it up and paint it, and then put it into print or into apps or e-books. It's like we are back in love with crafts again. We artists are working hard in a changing market to discover what creates the maximum beauty and surprise in an app or an e-book. I am sure we are all in mid discussion.

Alphabet book

Here is a new book I am working on. I'm using watercolor as a base, this is about half way through, and then diving in with Photoshop and in Painter, with virtual chalks and oils. I'm working to keep the best of the watercolor, and the best of the virtual color and texture.
